ABOUT PAULA
As a white, Romanian-American woman and mother with one foot rooted in community and the other in scholarly research, Paula protects and defends the former with the latter; embodying a soul-stirring paradigm shift towards empathy, equity, and action.
Paula has over 12 years of consulting and facilitation experience on building equity, diversity, and inclusion in workplaces and is CEO of Rise to Equity Excellence, LLC. She brings data-driven and research-based DEIB solutions to communities and workplaces. From 2008-2022, Paula was a professor of comparative race and ethnicity studies at the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity at Ithaca College. Currently, Paula is a qualitative researcher working on racial equity in public safety, criminal justice, and organizational systems.
She earned her PhD in History of Consciousness from UC Santa Cruz in 2008 under the mentorship of Angela Y. Davis, Neferti Tadiar, George Lipsitz, and Tricia Rose. She has spent her career working with a thought-leading global community toward racial and gender equity.
