Challenging Unconscious Bias in the Workplace

  • Tompkins County Public Library-Borg Warner Community Room 101 East Green Street Ithaca, NY, 14850 United States (map)

A workshop on challenging implicit bias in the workplace and developing inclusive, equitable and affirming practices.

Everyone has some type of unconscious bias. But people are not equally vulnerable to experiencing the negative effects of biases. Indeed, people who are marginalized due to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, ability and other aspects of identity are more likely to experience everyday verbal, behavioral, or environmental slights and insults.

This interactive workshop focuses on identifying and challenging unconscious bias and micro-aggressions in the workplace by

  • Raising people’ s consciousness about the harms created by everyday forms of implicit bias and micro-aggressions in the workplace

  • Sharing in the responsibility of disrupting implicit bias rather than assigning blame to specific individuals

  • Learning best practices for dealing with micro-aggressions and bias to enhance positive workplace environments and employee retention

  • Create spaces that foster equity, inclusiveness, and enhance people's strengths.

Cost per person: $60.00
